Training Video


This video won a Cinema in Industry Award (the CINDYs) in the category Training 15 minutes and under.

The Cooperative Cleaning Company in the East Bay is serious about employee training and retention. To welcome new employees and give them an introduction to the basic structure of a workday there, we created an animated orientation video.

After looking at several styles of animation, we settled on photo cutout animation. The project was output on VHS tapes, although we also designed the program to work on computer workstations (using Flash).

Orientation

The character cutouts move in a jerky, "Southpark" style. Backgrounds are from photos of the office and a sample home, but are stylized to deemphasize the details. The goal was to be entertaining, but not overshadow the training message.

Consistent visual and audio signals point out "wrong" and "right" techniques for safety.
