About Marvin Levin

Marvin T. Levin, Ph.D., JD, is a partner in the investment firm of Levin Menzies & Associates LLC, located in Walnut Creek, California.

In his 40-plus years teaching a UC Berkeley extension classes on Real Estate he worked with over 20,000 students, and coached some of the most successful real estate entrepreneurs in the San Francisco Bay Area.

He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1952, Phi Beta Kappa, with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.  He received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Boalt Hall at U.C. Berkeley in 1955.  In 1977, he received a Master's degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University, and in 1983, a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Golden Gate University.

He has been a member of the California State Bar since 1956, and passed his certified public accountant examinations in 1955.

Dr. Levin was a real estate subdivision developer between 1960 and 1970, developing more than 3,000 parcels in several Northern California counties, including Clear Lake Keys at Clear Lake, California.

He was a founding partner of Consolidated Capital Companies, which grew into one of the largest real estate syndicators in the country.  Under Dr. Levin's direction, Consolidated Capital Companies acquired and managed over $6 billion (current dollars) of real estate nationwide, including the acquisition and management of over 125,000 apartment units.  Dr. Levin and his partners sold the company in 1985.

Dr. Levin has authored and delivered courses since 1961 in the fields of income taxation, investment, and real estate syndication at the University of California-Berkeley Extension 

Dr. Levin is a past member of the Board of the California School of Professional Psychology and the University of California Business School.  He has received honorary doctorates from both Pepperdine University and the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology.
