Yes, You’re Supposed to Have a Reason

Life is full of fun things to do “just because.” But in my opinion the time and cost of a website makes more sense if there’s a strategic reason for every part of it.

Here are some thoughts on strategy for websites.

Know Your Audience

Whether a bullet point browser, a detail seeker, or a visual thinker, make sure your website addresses what users are looking for. One design can address multiple needs.

Organize for Users

I admit it, this is a pet peeve! Websites should be set up for who users are and what they're looking for, not organized for internal reasons, like who reports to whom.

Avoid the Pitfalls

What makes the difference between a quality project we all feel proud of and a near-miss that leaves the team tired and the promise unfulfilled?

Flash strategy
Goodbye to Flash?

I love the dynamism Flash can bring to a website. But the world is changing, and in most cases Flash is no longer a great idea.
